JMA: Black Swan

Hello, Hello! I'm so excited to share some really HUGE news. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen me mention that my husband and I just bought our first home.... eeeek! But before you get too excited it's a real piece of work. While we loved the amount of space, layout, lighting, etc... the interiors left little to be desired. The previous owner moved in in the early 70's and never did any updating at all. And we're not talkig about cool design 70's, we're talking carpet in the bathrooms 70's, wtf? The plus side is that that means we get to tear it all up top to bottom and I get to put my own twist on every little detail, which is super exciting as a designer. I'll be sharing the entire process, including befores and afters on the blog, wait till you see the transformation. The best part is since I am my own client I'll be able to share all my sources which means you'll easily be able to get the look in your home as well.

To get the ball rolling I'm sharing my overall mood board for the entire home. As you probably could have guessed there will be lots of black, white, woods and metallics. I'll be sharing more specific mood boards of each room in the coming weeks as well. For now I hope this little teaser wets your appetite and gets you excited for what's to come.

You can also follow along to see all the progress at #jmablackswan.

{J. Marx Atelier} Office Space

I am so excited to share these final photos of the TMG Office Space shot by Kimberly Genevieve. This was such a terrific project to work on,  I had a lot of creative freedom when it came to the design. I had a great time collaborating with a few artists on some large scale installations. This Means Mar painted a really amazing piece over the bar and Jessica of Bramble Workshop created the most stunning 3D wood sculpture in the lobby. Be sure to check out many more photos of this and other projects here

{J. Marx Atelier} Office Space II

I am so excited that this office space is finally in full construction mode! While the contractor is busy sorting out permits, electrical, plumbing, and duct work I set out furniture shopping, my favorite part. I wanted to keep the color scheme pretty neutral warming it up with pops of woods. These particular clients also have quite a substantial collection of colorful art so this black and white space is the perfect canvas to display their pieces. Here are just a few teasers of what's to come... and all I can say is it's going to be pretty amazing when it's done. Stay tuned for more updates.

{J. Marx Atelier} Office Space

I've been working away like a mad woman on a cool new project that I'm so excited to share with you. While I started working on the design and planning portion of this office space several months ago, demo just started last week and already I'm beginning to see my vision come to life. Here's a little back story... it's a business management firm in Beverly Hills that is moving into a new 12,000 s.f. space just a few miles down the road. While this company has been around for a while, we decided to use this opportunity to start fresh and create a brand new identity. I've been working with Mae Mae Paperie to create a new logo and stationary to match the new surroundings and so far I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Here is the mood board I created for the clients when the project first started... it's just a taste of what's to come!
