Our House

A little while back I posted this inspiration board for a redesign of our living room. Everything seemed so perfect, but I just kept fussing with the sofa option. Then one day I stumbled upon this little gem from Organic Modernism, ya know the place I mentioned on Tuesday, and I fell head over heels. It was the perfect piece to fill the void... but that meant a few other pieces had to be swapped out too. I'm pretty happy with the results. I think this is the final design, at least for now. And do you remember when I went to Montreal a few months ago and I mentioned I picked up a great vintage piece, well, that amazing brass lotus lamp has traveled a long way to join us, and I love her very much. I can't wait for this room to be done.

Check out my Houzz Ideabook here for more info on where to purchase many of these items.

Organic Modernism

You may remember this post from last year where I mentioned a new brand called Organic Modernism. Over the last year and a half they have designed some pretty incredible pieces that keep my heart racing. What I love most about the brand is that every piece is not only incredibly well designed, but also completely affordable. While New York has an overwhelming number of OM stores we in la LA were sadly left to internet shopping... that is until now. I'm so excited to announce that we now have our very own OM close by. I also may or may not have bought a pretty substantial piece for our living room there, but more on that later. If you live in or near LA I suggest you get your booty over there and check out all of the greatness asap. These are just a few of my favorites, but there is so much more eye candy here

{J. Marx Atelier} A Dazzling Sight

Here are some final images of Shoedazzle photographed by Tim Melideo for Glitter Guide. This has to be one of my favorite projects ever. I love the clean black and white palette with the magical pops on neon pink. Check out the evolution here and here. Visit here for more images of this and other projects.

{J. Marx Atelier} Vignettes of Vignette

I thought this week I would give you some inside peeks on a few projects that kept me super busy this summer. This first project is a nightclub/ lounge I designed with ICRAVE in West Hollywood, CA called Vignette Lounge. The space was designed to look and feel like a vintage Hollywood theatre. The concept was to take iconic details for the backstage and front of house of historic theatres and blend them together. I love all the details that helped make this space come to life. Visit J. Marx Atelier for more images.

Bisou Bisou

HELLO!!! First of all, I'm sorry to have been away for so long. This past summer was absolutely crazy... I was dealing with an overwhelming amount of work and some personal issues that quite frankly left me uninspired. I finally feel like I'm able to come up for some air and share some inspirational gems. While I can't promise I'll be able to keep up with a regular schedule, I can promise not to have another 3 month black-out period. Now for the fun stuff...

I've been loving all this little kissy lips I've seen around lately. Some for the home, some for fashion, and all equally fabulous.

De Farine & d'eau Fraîche

I just got back from my latest trip to Montreal, where I had the best time. Fresh maple syrup tasting, a day at the water park, and fabulous vintage shopping were just a few of the activities I enjoyed in the perfect summer weather. Most of all, I was beyond excited to discover a secret little gem of a street filled with vintage treasures. One of which I just could not pass up... but more on that later. While we were shopping I built up quite an appetite and thankfully we stumbled upon this sweet little restaurant that I just had to share, De Farine et d'eau Fraîche. Everything was so fresh and delicious... the salads, the brownies, and salted caramel were perfection.

{J.Marx Atelier} SHOEDAZZLE

You may remember this post I did a while back of a mood board for a project I was working on called Shoedazzle. Well, it's finally coming together and there are just a few minor touches left so I thought I would share a sneak peek of the entry lobby. I LOVE the way it turned out, full of pops of pink, neon signage, and some fabulous shoes. That back mural was custom painted by Jennifer Rae Ochs, a fabulous local artist. I can't wait to share more, but for now here's just a taste of what's to come, enjoy.
