{J. Marx Atelier} One Love

I'm over the moon to share this little number I am working on. A friend of mine recently asked me to help style Woven Accents' February window display. When I heard the theme for the 2 month window display I knew there was no way I could pass up the opportunity. The theme is One Love, and is perfectly opening just in time for Valentine's Day! Woven Accents and 27 Ground are officially launching their collaboration with super talented street artists by allowing them to beautify vintage rugs by hand painting them. Not only will these one of a kind rugs be on display, but they will also be for sale... AMAZING! Some of the artists include Kenny Scharf, Gregory Siff, Tanya Nolan, This Means Mar, & Defer. There are going to be extra surprises at the opening event, Feb. 13th that I can't wait to share. Let's just say some giant art toys from Toy Art Gallery and Blamo will be front and center adding a little fun and edge to interior design. Contact me for more info on event details... but I promise all the cool kids will be there.

Shine Bright Like a Concrete Diamond

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a concrete diamond diy from A Merry Mishap via Pinterest. While most of the time I stare in awe at the prettiness of a diy on my screen I rarely feel like attempting the task on my own... however, these little beauties were different. The moment I saw them I knew they had to be mine. I'm not going to lie, they were a little more involved and time consuming than I thought, but I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. There are a few extra tips in the comment section of AMM which I found to be super helpful. I also found this blog that was super detailed with the gem making procedure. I'm currently in the process of making a third set out of gems using a foam core mold which I think is working out the best so far. As a side note I printed the template in a few sizes to create a nice variety which I highly recommend! So what do you think??

Fit for a Queen

I recently shared some gorgeous photos of Bo Nuage taken by the super talented  Kimberly Genevieve. In general the store (and treats) have been getting rave reviews. Some of the most talked about, cherished pieces are the custom rose gold barstools I designed and had custom made. Yes, ROSE GOLD!! They are to D.I.E. for. I've been getting so many requests I decided to make them available for purchase. If you are interested in purchasing these little beauties please email me for more info on pricing and custom finishes.

{J. Marx Atelier} Bo Nuage

I've been DYING to share these final photos of Bo Nuage taken by Kimberly Genevieve. Yes, after months of hard work she's finally open and I've been getting so many lovely messages from people loving the design and tasty treats. Here is the pinterest board I created months ago with the initial inspiration for the design. It's so nice to finally see those images come to life! It was a long process but I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Here are a few lovely articles about Bo Nuage from EaterLA and Daily Candy. If you live in LA or are visiting for a few days you should definitely pop in to see the beauty for yourself. For more images of Bo Nuage and other projects visit J. Marx Atelier

From Drab to Fab: A Chair Story

After years of sitting in a horribly uncomfortable desk chair I decided to save my back and invest in a proper office chair. I scoured the internet and local stores in search of the perfect seat to rest my bum. I had very little luck finding something adorable enough to feel like a side chair but still be functional enough to use at my computer every day. Finally, after months of searching I found a pair of original Knoll chairs on Etsy with good bones, but shall we say... in less than glamorous condition.

I knew with a little love they could become something very special. I headed over to Mood in search of the perfect fabric with an open mind. I was so inspired by Chanel-ish boucle fabrics, I had always dreamt of a Chanel sofa. I quickly bought 4 yards and took it to Decorators Laminating to add a backing which would strengthen the fabric for upholstery since it was meant for apparel. I then bought a giant black leather hide and took the chairs straight to my upholsterer for a little make over... Et Voila!! I just love the way they turned out. I added a few girlie brooches { & Chanel} and I couldn't be happier with the end result.

{J. Marx Atelier} Bo Nuage Snaps!

Things are moving ahead swimmingly at Bo Nuage. You may remember this post with my original concepts... well after a few months of hard work it's finally coming alive. It's always my favorite part of the project when all the small details come together to create a cohesive brand. Here are a few of my instagram updates just incase you missed them, let's just say lots of black, white and rose gold happening over here. Don't forget to follow me on instagram for more sneak peeks of this and other projects.

{J. Marx Atelier} Lady Liberty Progress

You may remember that last year I shared a few images of this deli in the lobby of the Lady Liberty a fashion building in downtown LA. Well, after a little break we finally moved on to fixing up the sad gray stairwells and landings to create more lounge type cozy seating areas. We came up with a few options and landed on this super cool and fashion-forward black and white design.

We recently finished the construction portion of the design and I've ordered all the furniture which is going to look insane! I can't wait to share the final product but in the mean time here is a sneak peek of the progress. I mean I can't handle those painted floors... so good!
