{J. Marx Atelier} Wexler's Deli

For those of you that follow me on instagram you may have seen me mention Wexler's Deli, my newest design project scheduled to open in a few months. In late 2013 a friend of mine, Micah Wexler, contacted me about designing a new deli for him at the historic Grand Central Market in downtown LA. I jumped at the opportunity to work with such a talented friend on this super cool new endeavor. Micah and his business partner Mike wanted to create a super cool urban deli that felt classic and traditional while respecting the history of the market and it's location. Everything they are serving will be house smoked and hand sliced with a lot of attention paid to the craft of making everything themselves. I can't wait to try it all! For now enjoy the initial concept mood board I created with a preliminary rendering of the design, I love the way it's looking. So many more fabulous details to come that I can't wait to share.

Light up my life... and yours!

I am so excited to share these insanely stunning lamps I just added to my etsy shop. I have 2 gorgeous pairs of faceted vintage glass table lamps that I completely refurbished to make feel a little more sleek and contemporary. I personally own a pair of these lamps and I adore them. The first pair is spherical with a lucite base and brass top, the second pair is cylindrical on a brass base. I love them both so much!! I saw a similar pair for sale on 1st Dibs a while back for $4,800 and I knew I just had to have them. I searched all over LA and found several pairs of lamps... so I thought I would share a few with you. Check out my etsy page for more info.

{J. Marx Atelier} One Love

I previously mentioned that several months ago Ginna of 27 Ground contacted me about curating a very special event at Woven Accents called One Love. You can read more about the collaboration between Woven Accents and various artists here. For those of you that attended the event, thank you so much for coming! For those that couldn't quite make it, it was one for the record books. There were deliciously tasty bites, overflowing drinks, amazing tunes and eye popping art... sensory overload! I was so honored to curate this event in particular because I love the idea of layering street art and cooler edgier pieces into a traditional home to create a more contemporary personalized design. For the event Kenny ScharfGregory SiffTanya NolanThis Means Mar, & Defer all featured one of a kind vintage hand painted rugs. DJ Neff of Can Love live painted the most amazing kilim which was later used as the photo booth back drop. He also hand painted those gorgeous colorful flowers that are made from recycled spray cans. I also got some amazing art toys from Toy Art Gallery and Blamo to style the main gallery and smaller vignettes. To complete the look I borrowed a few pieces from Organic Modernism (how amazing are those benches?) and lights from A + R. I couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out! You can visit J. Marx Atelier to see more images of the space.

Minted Collections

Art is the best way to add color, personality, and interest to any space. Many times a work of art adds that finishing touch to a room, however I have also fallen so in love with a particular piece in the past that I designed an entire room around it. While I know that sometimes art can be a huge expense and investment there are always less expensive alternatives that are just as inspiring. Minted has some pretty amazing affordable art prints that I just can't get enough of. While any of these pieces are very able to hang on their own, why not cluster them to create a fabulous gallery wall. Above are two collections I put together, Edgy & Blush and Jewel Toned Gems... but the possibilities are endless. You should also check out their new blog, Julep, for some other awesome wall decor ideas and diy's including this honeycomb wall heart
